Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 26, 2020) — A pedestrian died Thursday afternoon, following a hit-and-run at Montgomery Boulevard Northeast and San Mateo Boulevard Northeast.
According to reports, witnesses contacted officials around 1:45 p.m. about a crash.
Callers informed authorities that a man, who appeared to have been panhandling while talking to other individuals, walked from the north to the south side of Montgomery Boulevard Northeast.
Meanwhile, a vehicle heading eastbound on Montgomery Boulevard struck him, causing him fatal injuries.
The driver of the car left the scene, failing to render aid or contact authorities.
Unfortunately, the unidentified pedestrian died shortly after the accident.
Moments later, authorities became successful in locating the vehicle a short distance away; however, its driver has yet to be identified.
