One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway [Laguna Hills, CA]
Five Vehicles Involved in Fatal Accident in Laguna Hills
LAGUNA HILLS, CA (June 20, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway southbound on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near El Toro Road at approximately 12:44 AM.
CHP initially reported that one person wanted to jump in front of traffic. Officials responded and located at least five vehicles at the scene. However, they did not state the circumstances that led to the crash.
Emergency crews declared one person dead at the scene. It was not clear whether that person was the one who wanted to jump in the roadway or a victim in the pile-up.
The crash forced the closures of the number 2 HOV lane and traffic lanes 1, 2, 3, and 4. The CHP issued a SigAlert to give way to rescue and clearing operations.
The California Highway Patrol did not release additional information. However, officers are investigating the collision.
