3 Dead in Pinon Hills Accident on Highway 138
PINON HILLS, CA (June 22, 2020) — A multi-vehicle accident on Highway 138 near Oasis Road left three people dead Thursday evening.
The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. and drew the San Bernardino County Fire to the scene. Arriving firefighters found three people deceased on arrival.
According to a California Highway Patrol incident log, someone reported the wheels of a silver sedan smoking after the vehicle had overturned and landed on its tires. In addition, bystanders tried getting someone out of the vehicle; however, further reports indicating whether that person died was not available.
Shortly thereafter, a helicopter landed to airlift a patient with critical injuries to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Paramedics evaluated another person at the scene, but that patient declined medical transportation.
At this point, detectives hope to determine the major cause that drove a Honda Civic, silver Infiniti G35 and an unsaid make and model of the third vehicle to crash. Anyone with pertinent information and who can help authorities, call the CHP.
During this delicate time, we would like to extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
