2 Injured in Head-On Collision on Highway 74 Near California Avenue [Hemet, CA]
2 Hospitalized Following Hemet Two-Car Accident
HEMET, CA (June 1, 2020) — Two people suffered moderate to serious injuries following Tuesday’s head-on collision on Highway 74 near California Avenue.
According to officials, the crash happened just east of California Avenue around 4:30 p.m.
CHP, Cal Fire and emergency First Responders arrived at the scene to find two cars with significant damage. Paramedics ushered two victims in the crash to nearby hospitals with moderate to severe injuries.
A witness informed authorities that a high-speed traveling Hyundai Sonata nearly struck him as it approached heavy traffic; however, the Hyundai driver swerved to avoid hitting the witness’s vehicle and struck an oncoming vehicle instead.
The second car involved was described as a Toyota Highlander, according to the witness.
At this time, authorities have not yet confirmed whether alcohol or drug intoxication played a role in the accident.
