Rosario Ortiz Dies in Pedestrian Accident on South Arizona Avenue Near East Elgin Street
CHANDLER, AZ (May 28, 2020)—A Saturday night pedestrian crash on South Arizona Avenue near East Elgin Street claimed one woman’s life.
According to reports, the Chandler Police Department arrived at the scene around 9:30 p.m. after receiving word of a crash. Arriving officials found 41-year-old Rosario Ortiz with serious injuries before pronouncing her dead shortly thereafter.
Detectives say she was crossing South Arizona Avenue in a wheelchair when a southbound vehicle struck her.
The driver, who has not been identified, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators. Detectives determined that neither speed, impairment nor distraction played a contributing role in the crash.
