Pedestrian Struck and Injured by 17-Year-Old Driver near Date Street
TAFT, CA (May 23, 2020) – Police identified a speeding car as involved in a pedestrian accident on Harrison Street on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Date Street.
A report showed a southbound Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident. As a result, the car struck a man who was walking westbound in a designated crosswalk.
Emergency crews found the man lying in the road with major injuries. They took the victim to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment.
The impact shattered the driver’s side windshield of the car. The driver was identified as a 17-year-old male. No information is currently available. However, police continue to investigate the case.
