Woman Dies in Bicycle Accident on Humboldt Road [Chico, CA]
Vehicle and Bicycle Involved in Fatal Accident in Chico
CHICO, CA (May 24, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 65-year-old woman died in a bicycle accident on Humboldt Road on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly after 10:00 AM.
A report showed that the victim was one of the two bicyclists who were riding their bikes westbound on Humboldt prior to the crash. At the same time, a 56-year-old woman on a 2019 Honda CRV was driving eastbound.
As the Honda got near the bicyclists, it slowed and steered to the right. However, the 65-year-old woman also steered to the right and ran into the bicyclist that was next to her before she went across the road where she collided with the Honda.
Paramedics brought the 65-year-old to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police did not believe drugs, alcohol, or speed to be a factor in this incident. However, they continue to investigate the accident.
