Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted After Navy Sailor Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2020) – Police confirmed that a Navy sailor died in a hit-and-run crash on East Harbor Drive on early Saturday morning, May 2.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near 32nd Street around 4:30 AM.
Naval investigators said that the sailor was walking on East Harbor when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop at the scene to help the victim.
As a result, the victim died. However, it was not clear if the pedestrian died at the scene or if emergency crews sent him to the hospital. Officials did not release the identity of the victim.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is handling the case. Officers believe that a non-commercial vehicle with front-end damage is involved in the crash. However, they did not release further information.
Remember to not leave the scene after an accident. However, wait for the authorities to arrive. Always stay sober, manage your speed, and avoid reckless driving to avoid getting into an accident.
