Guy Hanslin Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident in Los Gatos

 
LOS GATOS, NM (May 19, 2020) — The man who died in last Thursday’s hit-and-run accident on Los Alturas near Altura Vista has been identified.
 
Authorities identified 54-year-old Guy Hanslin of Mesquite, NM, as the victim who died in the 2:09 p.m. accident that took place at 10581 Los Alturas Street.
 
Authorities believe Hanslin was riding his black 2012 Harley-Davidson northbound on Las Alturas when a southbound tan 1998 Chevrolet S-10 truck crashed into him.
 
Investigators have yet to clarify several things, including why the vehicle turned left, striking the motorcycle head-on, and the driver’s whereabouts.
 
Detectives found the Chevrolet S10 abandoned at a residence in Mesquite, N.M., but details remain unknown.
 
Factors including whether impairment played a role in the hit-and-run fatal crash have not been determined; however, if witnesses would like to help authorities, please call the New Mexico State Police at (575) 382-2500 option 1.
