Woman Dies in Multi-Car Crash on Highway 99 Near Sierra Street [Kingsburg, CA]
Driver Killed in Kingsburg Accident
KINGSBURG, CA (May 18, 2020)—A woman died Thursday night following a multi-car crash on Highway 99 near Sierra Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was first involved in a solo-car accident around 10:40 p.m.
Mike Salas, a spokesman for the Department, said the 18-year-old Ivanhoe woman crashed her Honda Civic into the center divider after losing control of it.
Her car subsequently became disabled, blocking the southbound lanes of the freeway as she remained inside her vehicle, waiting for emergency crews to arrive.
However, a few minutes following the crash, a 24-year-old man driving a Toyota Corolla plowed into the Honda. Shortly after, a 28-year-old Fresno man in a Chevrolet Impala also slammed into her Civic.
The impact pinned the woman in her car, demanding firefighters to extricate her from her vehicle. After that, paramedics transported her to Community Regional Medical Center. However, despite life-saving efforts, the unidentified woman succumbed to her injuries.
All other parties sustained only minor injuries in the accident.
CHP officers determined through investigations that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role. However, an investigation is underway.
In light of this terrible news, we would like to send our heartfelt sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.
