Cyclist Dies After Being Hit by DUI Driver on Paradise Valley Road in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 15, 2020) — A 52-year-old man lost his life Wednesday night after being hit by an alleged DUI driver on Paradise Valley Road near Munda Road.
According to police, the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of Paradise Valley Road. As the 52-year-old man rode his bike westbound along Paradise Valley Road, a 2008 SAAB 9-3 sedan struck him from behind.
Paramedics reported to the scene shortly after and brought the victim to a hospital where he died. The victim’s name has been withheld pending family notification.
At the scene, police investigated the 28-year-old SAAB driver. They’ve determined that alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the accident and later arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
No other information concerning the crash was made available.
