Yadira Gonzalez Killed, Reane Demery Arrested in DUI Head-On Crash [Delano, CA]
Yadira Gonzalez Dead, Reane Demery Detained in Delano DUI Car Accident
DELANO, CA (May 14, 2020) — A 44-year-old woman perished in Tuesday’s DUI head-on collision on Highway 155 at Zerker Road.
The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. just before officers received word of a collision in the area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic heading westbound on the highway crossed into the eastbound lanes. After that, it struck a Chevrolet Cruze head-on.
Both vehicles came to a rest on the south shoulder of Highway 155. Per CHP, the crash became so violent that the engine of the Honda Civic ended up in a nearby almond orchard. However, no other information is known.
Paramedics responded to the scene and shuttled both drivers to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield with major injuries. Unfortunately, the 44-year-old Chevrolet driver and Delano resident — Yadira Gonzalez — succumbed to her injuries.
As for the 26-year-old Honda driver, Reane Demery of Bakersfield, she will face DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
No other details surrounding this crash were available. However, an investigation is ongoing.
Our law firm would like to send its sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Yadira Gonzalez.
