Three Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 178 [Lake Isabella, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash near Yankee Canyon Drive
LAKE ISABELLA, CA (May 11, 2020) – Police confirmed that at least three people died in a head-on accident on Highway 178 on Monday.
According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Yankee Canyon Drive.
A 1998 Ford Escort was speeding on the westbound lane of the highway when it entered a left-hand curve. As a result, the driver lost control of the Ford causing it to go into the eastbound lane, where it collided into a 2002 Toyota Tacoma head-on.
A woman driving the Ford died at the scene. Another woman who was the front passenger in the Toyota also died at the scene. The male driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital but ultimately died from his injuries.
Police continue to investigate the accident. However, they did not release further information.
