Two Critical After Suspected DUI Accident on Cliff Drive [Santa Barbara, CA]
Suspected DUI Driver Involved in Major Crash near Santa Cruz Boulevard
SANTA BARBARA, CA (May 7, 2020) – Two people suffered critical injuries after a suspected DUI accident in the 1500 block of Cliff Drive on early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Santa Cruz Boulevard around 1:00 AM.
Reports showed a Land Rover going eastbound on Cliff at a high rate of speed when it clipped a parked Volvo Stationwagon, then slammed into a parked Scion sedan
The female driver and her female passenger had to be extricated from the wreckage. Crews transported the victims to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for major injuries. Both parked vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Impairment and speed appeared to be major contributing factors to the collision. However, an investigation is ongoing.
