Man Dies in Chico Bicycle Accident
CHICO, CA (May 11, 2020) — A bicyclist died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle in an accident on Highway 32 at 10 Mile House Trail.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 10:00 p.m.
CHP officers say a 65-year-old man was riding his bike eastbound on the highway at an unknown speed. Subsequently, a 32-year-old man driving a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck at about 55 miles per hour struck the cyclist with the front portion of the truck.
As a result of the accident, the unidentified cyclist suffered fatal injuries.
Per CHP officers, the crash requires more investigation, but thus far, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as possible sources to the collision.
