Esperanza Rodriguez Struck and Killed by Train on East Tabor Avenue [Fairfield, CA]
77-Year-Old Woman with Dementia Dies in Train Accident near Railroad Avenue
FAIRFIELD, CA (May 7, 2020) – Police identified Esperanza Rodriguez as the elderly who was struck and killed by a train on East Tabor Avenue on early Thursday morning.
The accident happened near Railroad Avenue around 6:30 AM.
Based on reports, the 77-year-old woman from Fairfield is believed to have dementia. Rodriquez wandered from her home and sat down on the train tracks. As a result, a westbound Amtrak train struck her.
An attending coroner pronounced Rodriguez dead at the scene. There were passengers aboard the train, but none of them suffered any injuries.
Authorities did not release further details. However, an investigation is ongoing.
