Driver Dead, Worker Injured in Crash on Washington Avenue Near Mollison Avenue [El Cajon, CA]
Fatal Fiery Accident Reported in El Cajon Crash on Washington Avenue
EL CAJON, CA (May 7, 2020) — A driver died while a construction worker suffered injuries after a car crashed into a construction site zone on East Washington Avenue near South Mollison Avenue.
According to police, the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. An eastbound 2000 Lexus RX350 entered a construction site area and slammed into three cars. Reports state that two of theme were construction equipment vehicles.
When witnesses reported hearing an explosion, fire crews dispatched shortly after and found four vehicles on fire. In addition, they found the driver inside the Lexus dead on arrival.
Paramedics transported one worker, who had been hit by a flying toolbox, to a hospital with minor injuries.
Although a preliminary investigation had been rolled out, El Cajon Police were still unable to confirm whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident; however, they encourage witnesses with information to call the department at (619) 579-3311.
