Pedestrian Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Crash at El Cajon Boulevard and Copeland Avenue [San Diego, CA]
Person Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Crash at El Cajon Boulevard in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 7, 2020) — A 56-year-old sustained serious injuries following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident at El Cajon Boulevard and Copeland Avenue.
According to police, a car described as a possible Ford Expedition ran a red traffic light around 7:00 p.m. The Ford subsequently struck a 56-year-old crossing southbound in a crosswalk with the pedestrian right-of-way sign on.
However, the driver of the Ford continued westbound on El Cajon Boulevard, failing to stop at the scene and render aid. Witnesses say that the car continued toward the 15 Freeway.
Fortunately, surveillance cameras from nearby businesses documented the crash, which should help authorities determine the car involved; however, if anyone has additional information, they should call the San Diego Police Department’s traffic investigations division at (858) 495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
