SANTA CLARA, CA (May 7, 2020) — A woman lost her life following Wednesday’s pedestrian accident on Highway 101 near San Tomas Expressway.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Ross Lee, the crash involved a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado striking a female pedestrian around 4:12 a.m. The tragic incident ensued on the northbound side of the highway just south of San Tomas Expressway.
Authorities say the woman, believed to be in her 30s, was walking on the right-hand shoulder before she began crossing the highway lanes. The male driver at the wheel of the Chevrolet was unable to avoid hitting her, say news reports.
By 4:38 a.m., paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. However, her name has yet to be made public pending notification of next of kin.
As for the Chevrolet Silverado driver, he avoided harm and stayed at the scene for questioning.
