7 Hurt in Car Crash on River Road and Highway 101 [Santa Rosa, CA]
Children Among 7 Injured in Santa Rosa Accident
SANTA ROSA, CA (May 5, 2020)—Seven people sustained injuries following Thursday’s two-car accident at River Road and Highway 101.
According to police, five children were among those injured, one of whom required airlift transportation to an Oakland Hospital.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman said a Ford Expedition collided with a Goodwill truck–both of which were entering the highway around 9:45 a.m.
Police say that the driver of the Goodwill truck tried making room for another car but lost control and collided with the Ford. The impact sent both vehicles into a vegetation area to the right of the highway.
At some point during the crash, the Ford SUV overturned, injuring the driver and five children. The driver of the Goodwill truck also sustained injuries.
Of those hurt, a girl, between ages of 8 and 10, was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital while paramedics flew two others to UC Davis Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Santa Rosa CHP office.
