Cricelia Zepedaacevedo Killed, Verlyn Coulson Hospitalized in Two-Car Crash on Highway 243 Near Milepost 5
DESERT AIRE, WA (May 1, 2020) — A 38-year-old woman died in a head-on collision on Highway 243 near Milepost 5 Monday afternoon.
According to Washington State Patrol, Cricelia Zepedaacevedo of Desert Aire was traveling northbound on the highway when her car drifted off the road at Milepost 5 for unknown reasons. She subsequently overcorrected and crossed into oncoming traffic around noon time. After that, her vehicle struck a southbound car, driven by 31-year-old Verlyn Coulson of Mattawa.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Coulson to Kadlec Medical Center for treatment. However, Zepedaacevedo sustained grave injuries and died at the scene.
Investigators learned that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the impact. However, they have not determined what led to the accident.
