Alain Gerard Dies in Head-On Accident With Commercial Vehicle on Highway 41 Near Road 420
COARSEGOLD, CA (April 28, 2020) — A 74-year-old Coarsegold man died in Monday’s head-on crash on Highway 41 near Road 420.
According to reports, the crash befell around 9:00 a.m. and involved a Nissan pickup truck and a large commercial dump truck.
Authorities say 74-year-old Alain Gerard, whom Madera County Coroners’ Office later identified, suffered some type of medical emergency while driving northbound on Highway 41. His pickup truck veered into the oncoming lane where it collided head-on with the dump truck.
As a result of the crash, Gerard’s wife – a passenger in the vehicle – suffered minor injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. However, her 74-year-old husband succumbed to his injuries even after paramedics rendered life-saving efforts.
The driver of the dump truck escaped the crash unharmed, reports confirmed. However, no other information was available.
