Man Struck and Killed by Train at Sunnyside Beach [Steilacoom, WA]
Amtrak Train Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Crash near Chambers Creek Road
STEILACOOM, WA (April 22, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that a man died after a train at Sunnyside Beach struck him on Wednesday evening.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Chambers Creek Road at approximately 6:30 PM.
Reports from the Steilacoom Police Department showed the victim walking along train tracks when he was struck by a Seattle-bound Amtrak train.
Police said the man died at the scene. However, officials did not release his identify pending kin notification.
The Amtrak train that traveled from Portland to Seattle was delayed about three hours after the accident.
It is unclear why the man stood in the tracks at the time of the crash. However, an investigation continues.
