3 Hurt Following 7-Car Crash in Monterey
MONTEREY, CA (April 24, 2020) — A seven-vehicle accident on Holeman Highway near Skyline Forest Drive Wednesday left three people hospitalized, say reports.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash unfolded around 11:20 a.m. A Penske truck was reportedly traveling eastbound on Holeman Highway near Skyline Forest Drive.
As it tried navigating near a construction zone, the driver veered into the westbound lane for unknown reasons and struck six cars.
Reports noted that the truck hit a white Chevy Impala, a red Buick Encore, a white Lexus RX350, a silver Honda Accord and a white Dodge Ram before it landed on top of a white Mercedes E-450.
Following the accident, paramedics airlifted a 71-year-old woman from La Selva Beach to Natividad with major injuries. However, others transported two drivers to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with minor injuries.
Authorities have not confirmed why the Penske truck driver lost control and entered the double yellow lines. However, an investigation is ongoing.
Be cautious of your surroundings every time you’re behind the wheel. Driving is one of the most dangerous things you can do daily. As a result, this should help you navigate busy streets and roads with construction sites or around pedestrians with caution.
