Jose Garcia-Cerron Dies in Rollover Crash on Highway 223 [Bakersfield, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash near South Fairfax Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 17, 2020) – Authorities identified Jose Garcia-Cerron as the victim who died in a rollover crash on Highway 223 on Friday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near South Fairfax Road.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said that the 66-year-old Arvin resident was not wearing a seatbelt when his 2002 Chevrolet Suburban was struck on the right side by a 2007 Dodge Caliber. The Dodge was making a left turn onto the highway when the collision occurred. As a result, the Chevy overturned and came to a rest on the east shoulder of the road.
Garcia-Cerron was proclaimed dead at the scene. Five other occupants in the Chevy suffered minor injuries. However, three occupants in the Dodge were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police did not release any additional information or details to the public at this time. However, officials are conducting an investigation into the accident.
