1 Killed in Rollover Bus Collision on Diamond Bar Road [Tusayan, AZ]
Fatal Tour-Bus Accident Kills 1 near Grand Canyon in Tusayan
TUSAYAN, AZ (January 22, 2021) – One person was killed in a rollover bus collision on Diamond Bar Road on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the Las Vegas bus was heading towards the Grand Canyon. For reasons not yet known, the bus rolled over near milepost 5.
Officers say 48 occupants were inside the bus at the time. Responding crews found the large tour bus on its side upon arrival. Due to the impact of the collision, one occupant was pronounced dead.
In addition, two passengers were critically injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Seven were transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. The remaining 33 occupants were transported with minor injuries.
At this time, the identities of those involved remains unknown. The roadway was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the area has since reopened to the public.
Once available, more information will be released as the investigation remains ongoing.
