Bicyclist Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Highway 58 in Boron
BORON, CA (January 3, 2021) – Police confirmed that a man was killed in a pedestrian crash on Highway 58 on Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 395 around 6:30 AM.
Based on a report, the victim’s vehicle had broken down on the road. Subsequently, he walked out of the car and was arranging for a tow at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he walked into traffic lanes and was struck by a big rig.
As a result, the victim died in the incident. Officials only identified the victim as a 52-year-old Taft man.
Witnesses said the big rig briefly stopped at the scene after the crash. Subsequently, it moved and left the scene. There is very little information about the truck or the driver. At this time, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
