Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 702 at 8th Avenue South in Roy
ROY, WA (January 2, 2021) – Police confirmed that a woman and a child died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 702 on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at 8th Avenue South around 12:50 PM.
Based on a report, the victims were in a beige car that was traveling north on 8th Avenue. As it tried to cross the street, it collided with a truck that was going westbound on the highway.
As a result, the victims died in the incident. Paramedics airlifted the woman and the child to Madigan Army Medical Center, but they succumbed to their injuries. Officials did not yet release their identities pending kin notification. Troopers said the two people inside the truck were not hurt.
Upon assessment, officers said the car’s passenger side window was missing and had several strips of clear tape across it. They said it is possible that the driver could not see out of the window. However, the crash remains under investigation.
