Emelie Hjerten Killed in Fiery Car Accident on Central Avenue [Chino, CA]
Emelie Hjerten Dies in Solo-Car Accident on Central Avenue Near G Street
CHINO, CA (December 17, 2020)—An 18-year-old woman died in a fiery single-vehicle accident on Central Avenue near G Street.
According to the San Bernardino County coroner, Emelie Anna Hjerten, of Chino, perished at the scene.
Arriving police officers found one of the passengers standing outside of the vehicle and rushed to pull another passenger out from the burning 2013 Toyota Prius.
Soon after, paramedics shuttled the victims—a 19-year-old Corona woman, a 20-year-old Chino man and a 19-year-old Chino man—to a hospital.
Hjerten, unfortunately, did not make it.
According to investigations, police believe Hjerten swerved into the southbound lanes while heading north on Central Avenue and slammed into a tree. Subsequently, the Toyota caught on fire, trapping a few of the occupants inside.
However, the precise cause of this accident remains unclear. While detectives scour for the cause of the accident, Hjerten’s loved ones have been hoping to raise funds for her memorial through a GoFundMe page.
This is no news any family member or friend should ever have to learn. We would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Emelie Anna Hjerten.
