One Killed, Two Injured in Crash Involving DUI Driver on Peck Road [El Monte, CA]
DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Peck Road near Lower Azusa Road in El Monte
EL MONTE, CA (December 13, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a crash involving a DUI driver on Peck Road on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Lower Azusa Road at approximately 05:30 AM.
Based on a report, a Nissan Versa heading west on Lower Azusa at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it collided with a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling north on Peck.
As a result, El Monte police said a 35-year-old man from Los Angeles died at the scene. Officials said the victim was a passenger in one of the cars. In addition, the Versa’s driver, a 37-year-old Los Angeles woman, suffered significant injuries. The 22-year-old La Puente man driving the pickup complained of pain. Emergency crews also transported the victim to a hospital for evaluation.
The California Highway Patrol suspects DUI as a factor in the crash. However, officials don’t have additional information to share.
