Raenaldo Abundiz Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Monterey Road Near East Middle Avenue
MORGAN HILL, CA (December 14, 2020)—A 41-year-old man died Thursday evening following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Monterey Road near East Middle Avenue.
According to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, Raenaldo Abundiz perished in the fatal hit-and-run incident.
Around 5:35 p.m., a red compact vehicle struck Abundiz near the 76 gas station as he crossed the road. Subsequently, a light-colored Toyota pickup truck ran over him before fleeing southbound on Monterey Road.
Shortly after the accident, paramedics arrived to assess the man they found on the road. However, despite having received life-saving efforts, the victim, later identified as Abundiz, died at the scene.
Currently, detectives with the investigation team have yet to confirm the whereabouts of the drivers and the precise model of each. Witnesses with information should call the Morgan Hill Police Department at (669) 253-4972.
