Joseph Granados Arrested for DUI after Pedestrian Crash on Freedom Boulevard [Aptos, CA]
88-Year-Old Man Struck and Injured by DUI Driver on Freedom Boulevard near Mariner Way in Aptos
APTOS, CA (December 4, 2020) – Police arrested Joseph Granados for DUI after a pedestrian crash on Freedom Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Mariner Way around 01:50 PM.
Based on a report, an 88-year-old pedestrian was walking to his mailbox crossing Freedom Boulevard at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, Granados’ 1997 Honda struck him before he struck mailboxes on the south shoulder of Freedom Boulevard.
As a result, the victim suffered major injuries in the incident. Medics transported him to Dominican Hospital by ambulance before airlifting him to Valley Medical Center. Granados was not hurt in the incident.
Police booked 29-year-old Joseph Granados into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. At this point, the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
