Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (December 7, 2020) — A 30-year-old man perished in a two-car accident Thursday afternoon on Monticello Avenue near Fairfax Avenue.
According to police, the victim was operating a white Mercedes-Benz southbound on Monticello Avenue at a high rate of speed. Around 2:56 p.m., the Mercedes collided with a Toyota Prius traveling in front of it.
Fortunately, the 41-year-old Oakland woman driving the Toyota, as well as her two children, dodged injury.
The impact sent the Mercedes veering out of control and striking some parked vehicles and a power pole near Fairfax Avenue. Subsequently, the Mercedes overturned, and the driver died at the scene.
At this time, investigators have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident; however, anyone with information should call traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
