Kimberly Sorg, Michelle Kardys Killed in DUI Crash on Cactus Road [Phoenix, AZ]
Lex Currie Arrested for DUI after Fatal Crash Cactus Road near 32nd Street in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (December 8, 2020) – Police identified Kimberly Sorg and Michelle Kardys as the victims who died in a DUI crash on Cactus Road on Tuesday, December 1.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near 32nd Street.
Based on a report, a driver, who police identified as Lex Currie was speeding on 32nd Street when he slammed into the back of a Nissan Maxima. Subsequently, the Maxima veered off the road and hit a tree.
As a result, a 24-year-old female, Kimberly Sorg, and 49-year-old Michelle Kardys died in the incident. A man with the victims in the car, Dennis Kardys suffered head injuries and several broken bones. In addition, medics transported a 30-year-old female and a 40-year-old male to the hospital in critical conditions.
According to the Phoenix police, Currie was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He posted bail but is facing second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and endangerment. At this point, an investigation is ongoing.
