Man Dies in Bicycle Accident on Leucadia Boulevard [Encinitas, CA]
Vehicle and Bicycle Involved in Fatal Accident on Leucadia Boulevard near Moonstone Court in Encinitas
ENCINITAS, CA (December 3, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man died in a bicycle accident on Leucadia Boulevard on Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Moonstone Court at approximately 11:50 AM.
Based on a report, a vehicle was turning right from westbound Leucadia to Moonstone at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it struck the victim’s bicycle.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said bystanders gave medical aid to the victim while waiting for the medical response team. Subsequently, emergency crews arrived and transported the victim by ambulance to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Unfortunately, the victim later died of his injuries. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
At this time, deputies with the department’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team are investigating the accident. However, officials don’t have additional details to share.
