Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Montague Expressway Near Mission College Boulevard [Santa Clara, CA]
Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Rideshare Driver in Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, CA (November 9, 2020) — A 57-year-old man died in Wednesday’s pedestrian accident on Montague Expressway near Mission College Boulevard.
According to news reports, the fatal incident happened around 4:25 p.m. just before officers responded to a call about the crash.
Upon arriving, police found a man with significant injuries and immediately rendered life-saving efforts; however, the unidentified victim died at the scene as attempts to save him fell short.
According to preliminary investigations, a woman walking with the man dodged injury. Additionally, officers confirmed that the pair was walking southbound on the shoulder of Montague Expressway when the Rideshare driver, also heading southbound, struck the man upon losing control.
Following the accident, the driver of the 2017 Honda Accord, an active Rideshare driver, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police questioning, which ruled out impairment as a possible factor.
