Adelina Diaz Killed, Cristobal Bocanegro Injured, Jose Arauza-Ortiz Sought in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident [Dixon, CA]
Adelina Diaz Dead, Cristobal Bocanegro Hospitalized in Dixon Accident
DIXON, CA (November 12, 2020) — A woman died when a hit-and-run driver struck her on South 1st Street near East B Street Sunday night.
Around 8:00 p.m., a caller contacted authorities about a hit-and-run pedestrian accident. Upon arriving, police found a Good Samaritan rendering CPR on Adelina Rendon Diaz, who later died at the scene.
Her husband, Cristobal Bocanegro, laid there just a few feet from her with major injuries.
According to the investigation, a white 2010 Nissan Murano struck the pair, and its driver fled the scene.
However, the next day, Dixon police found the Nissan, which had been initially called a vehicle of interest, yet only to be confirmed a day later that the car was the model involved in the fatal hit-and-run.
As Bocanegro, 71, recovers from his injuries, investigators are seeking Jose De Jesus Arauza-Ortiz, the driver of the Nissan who killed the Taqueria Adelina restaurant owner.
Per reports, detectives received information that Arauza-Ortiz may be en route to Southern California or Mexico.
