2 Dead in Oro Grande Crash on National Trails Highway
ORO GRANDE, CA (November 2, 2020)—Two passengers died Thursday after a car crashed into a semi-truck on National Trails Highway near Circle Road.
According to California Highway Patrol, the 11:48 p.m. incident involved a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2014 Freightliner.
For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet driver veered from the southbound lane to the northbound side and struck the Freightliner.
Shortly after, a witness contacted 911 to get CHP officers, San Bernardino County fire department and an ambulance to the scene.
Upon arriving, paramedics transported the 45-year-old male driver from Barstow to Victor Valley Global Medical Center and a 58-year-old female passenger from Barstow to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by Mercy Air with major injuries.
Tragically, a 33-year-old woman from Hesperia and a 22-year-old man from Wrightwood died at the scene.
As for the 35-year-old Firebaugh man operating the Freightliner, he evaded injury and stayed at the scene for investigations.
At this time, many details remain unclear, but the Victorville CHP office will be investigating this crash further.
