Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Golden State Highway Near Griffith Avenue [Turlock, CA]
Pedestrian Crash Turns Fatal in Turlock
TURLOCK, CA (November 3, 2020)—A Turlock man perished following Monday’s pedestrian accident on Golden State Highway near Griffith Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 4:54 a.m. and stemmed from a property damage-related accident that involved the Turlock man.
Per the CHP, the 27-year-old crashed his vehicle north of Daubenger Road under unknown conditions. Subsequently, he left his car and began walking eastbound in the middle of the southbound lanes where a southbound Toyota Tacoma, traveling about 50 mph, slammed into him.
Immediately after the accident, the Toyota pulled to the right shoulder of Golden State Highway where the driver contacted 911.
A few moments later, emergency medical personnel arrived and performed life-saving measures that fell short as the Turlock man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
At this time, factors related to DUI on his part remain unclear. Yet according to the CHP, the Toyota driver reported no injuries and was found to be uninfluenced by drugs or alcohol.
Since details remain unclear, witnesses should contact the CHP to help with the investigation.
