Fatal Multi-Car Accident at Palm Drive and 20th Avenue [Desert Hot Springs, CA]
At Least 1 Dead, Several Hurt in Desert Hot Springs Accident
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (November 3, 2020)—At least one person died Monday afternoon following a five-car pileup at Palm Drive and 20th Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 12:14 p.m. accident summoned authorities to the scene to investigate the events.
Inferring from evidence, detectives say the incident happened when a car drifted into the other lane and sideswiped a vehicle. At some point during the accident, one car caught on fire, and paramedics ushered a pregnant woman inside that vehicle to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Additionally, a driver who had neglected to wear a seatbelt suffered major injuries and required immediate hospital care.
According to the CHP, one person died in the crash. Authorities will release that person’s name and residence once the next of kin has been notified.
