One Killed in Head-On Accident With Semi-Truck in Corning

 
CORNING, CA (November 3, 2020)—A driver died Monday following a head-on accident with a semi-truck on the 5 Freeway near Liberal Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound driver crossed into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons and plowed into a semi-truck around 5:53 a.m.
 
Responding crews arrived at the scene and determined that one person had died in the crash.
 
Due to the devastating effects of the incident, Caltrans had to close the southbound lanes of the freeway until 12:15 p.m. when traffic began to normalize.
 
At some point during the accident, a fire sparked but the Corning fire department became successful in putting it out.
 
Other information, such as the factors that led to the accident, requires more investigation. Although anyone willing to help the CHP should called their offices.
