Tire Blowout Causes Major Accident Involving Cement Truck on Loop 202 near 10 Freeway in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (November 1, 2020) – At least two people suffered injuries in an accident involving a cement truck on Loop 202 on Sunday evening.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just west of 10 Freeway.
Based on a report, a cement truck traveling westbound on 202 when it had a tire blowout. Subsequently, it swerved in the lanes and hit the concrete median. It then kept moving and was struck by a Ford Mustang that ended up underneath the rear axle of the truck.
As a result, the cement truck driver sustained life-threatening injuries and the Mustang driver had serious injuries.
The commotion affected the traffic in the area. Thus, the Arizona Department of Transportation closed the road to give way to rescue and clearing operations. At this time, an investigation is still ongoing.
