Michelle Norton Dies in Rollover Crash on 80 Freeway [Fernley, NV]
Driver Dead, Passenger Injured in Crash on 80 Freeway in Fernley
FERNLEY, NV (October 29, 2020) – Police identified Michelle Norton as the victim who died in a rollover crash on 80 Freeway on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the collision happened near mile marker 40 around 2:43 PM.
Based on a report, 28-year-old Norton of Clinton was driving a white 2004 Nissan Sentra at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, she drifted into the outside shoulder. Subsequently, she overcorrected to the right but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn in the road.
As a result, the impact of the crash ejected Norton from the vehicle. Emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene. In addition, her passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Crews transported the victim to a hospital for treatment.
NHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. However, officers don’t have additional information to share.
