Mark Garcia, Nicole Rieg Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 4 [Angels Camp, CA]
Driver Arrested for DUI after Head-On Crash on Highway 4 near Batten Road in Angels Camp
ANGELS CAMP, CA (October 30, 2020) – Police identified Mark Garcia and Nicole Rieg as the drivers who suffered injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 4 on Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Batten Road at approximately 7:25 PM.
Based on a report, Garcia, 55, of Columbia, was driving a 2002 Honda Accord westbound on the highway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he crossed into the eastbound lane. Subsequently, his car crashed head-on with a 2011 Ford Fusion of Rieg, 49, of Discovery Bay.
As a result, the collision trapped both drivers in their vehicles. They both sustained major injuries in the incident.
Officers arrested one of those drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence. At this time, they don’t have additional details to share.
