Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 78 [Vista, CA]
Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 78 near Melrose Drive in Vista
VISTA, CA (October 30, 2020) – Police confirmed that one man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 78 on early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Melrose Drive around 12:30 AM.
Based on a report, the man was running across the westbound lanes of the highway at the time of the crash. At the same time, a 23-year-old Oceanside woman was driving a Hyundai Sonata also on the westbound lane. Due to unknown reasons, the sedan struck the victim.
As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was believed to be in his 30s, but officials did not yet release his identity.
The woman stopped her car and immediately called 911. At this point, an investigation is ongoing. In addition, officers ask any witnesses to call the CHP at 858-637-3800.
