2 Hospitalized after Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway [Castaic, CA]
SUV, Semi-Trailer Truck, Car Catch Fire in Crash on 5 Freeway near Templin Highway in Castaic
CASTAIC, CA (October 28, 2020) – Medics sent two people to the hospital after a fiery multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just north of Templin Highway around 4:18 PM.
Based on a report, a semi-trailer truck containing propane tanks collided with an SUV and a car. Subsequently, the trailer, the SUV, and the third vehicle caught fire in the incident. The Los Angeles County Fire Department said the fire almost spread to a nearby brush.
As a result, at least two people sustained injuries. Crews transported the patients to the hospital for treatment.
Soon after, firefighters successfully extinguished the fire while CHP officers diverted traffic off the freeway. An investigation into the cause of the fiery crash is ongoing. However, officials don’t have additional details to share.
