Cambria Soto Killed, Alexis Mendoza Charged Following DUI Accident on Tomah Avenue Near North Cobb Street
PORTERVILLE, CA (November 3, 2020) — A 13-year-old girl died when a DUI driver slammed into her apartment on Tomah Avenue near North Cobb Street Sunday.
According to Porterville police officers, Cambria Soto had been asleep at the time Alexis Mendoza lost control of his pickup. Mendoza slammed into Soto’s apartment complex in the 1000 block of West Tomah Avenue.
Soon after, paramedics and other crews responded around 3:45 a.m. and airlifted 13-year-old Soto to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, where she died despite having received life-saving measures.
During police investigations, officers noticed 19-year-old Mendoza demonstrating signs of impairment, later arresting him on DUI charges and booking him into the Tulare County Adult Pretrial Facility. Currently, he faces charges of DUI causing injury and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated with a bail of $100,000.
To acquire help and raise awareness, the Soto family created a GoFundMe page for Cambria.
We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Cambria Soto.
