Augustus Marinovich Detained Following Deadly DUI Head-On Crash on Phoenix Lake Road Near Bear Club Drive
SONORA, CA (October 29, 2020)—A 33-year-old Sonora woman died following Monday’s head-on DUI accident on Phoenix Lake Road near Bear Club Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly car accident not only claimed the woman’s life but left her juvenile passengers with major injuries.
Shortly after the accident, paramedics shuttled all four patients, described as children under the age of 14, to UC Davis Medical Center by helicopter.
According to the investigation, CHP officers say that around 6:15 p.m., Augustus Matthew Marinovich had lost control of his pickup truck and slammed into the 1996 Suzuki SUV, which carried the five victims.
As a result, Marinovich also sustained major injuries and sought care at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Currently, he faces vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges.
No other information about this crash was available.
