Constantine Tsavalas Dead, Mauricio Aguilar Detained Following DUI Accident on Highway 29 at Hoffman Lane
NAPA, CA (October 20, 2020) — An 87-year-old man died following Saturday’s DUI two-car crash on Highway 29 at Hoffman Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Constantine Tsavalas was traveling northbound on Highway 29 in his 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. However, as he tried to make a turn across the southbound lanes onto Hoffman Lane around 3 p.m., a southbound 2000 Dodge Dakota struck his vehicle at the intersection.
Per police, 36-year-old Mauricio R. Aguilar had been driving at elevated speeds in his Dodge Dakota prior to the impact. Additionally, officers arrested him after he’d demonstrated signs of impairment.
Shortly after, paramedics transported both drivers to Queen of the Valley hospital where Tsavalas succumbed to his injuries.
