20-Year-Old Andres Salinassaucedo Arrested after DUI Crash on El Capitan Way [Ballico, CA]
DUI Driver Involved in Head-On Crash on El Capitan Way in Ballico
BALLICO, CA (October 18, 2020) – Police arrested 20-year-old Andres Salinassaucedo of Atwater following a DUI crash on El Capitan Way on Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Santa Fe Drive at approximately 10:24 AM.
Based on a report, Salinassaucedo was driving a 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300 eastbound on El Capitan at a speed of about 30 to 40 mph prior to the crash. Due to an unknown reason, the Mercedes-Benz drifted over the center line and collided head-on with a Chevrolet 3500 pickup towing a flatbed trailer.
As a result, Salinassaucedo suffered moderate to major injuries. Emergency crews used an air ambulance to take him to a Modesto-area hospital. The Chevy driver, Nicolas Torres Perez, 39, of Livingston, refused medical treatment for minor injuries.
Officers later arrested Salinassaucedo on suspicion of driving under the influence. However, they continue to investigate the crash.
